SAN ANGELO, TX — Republican U.S. Senate nominee Ken Paxton will stop in San Angelo on Wednesday, Oct. 28, as part of his “Come and Take It” bus tour. The event is set for Arc Light Sports Bar & Grill, 441 Rio Concho Drive, with doors opening at 11 a.m.
The San Angelo stop is one of more than 30 events on an 18-day statewide swing that launched earlier this month in Rockwall and is scheduled to conclude at the Alamo in San Antonio on Nov. 2, the eve of Election Day. Other stops have included or will include cities such as Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Amarillo, Lubbock, Odessa, Abilene, and communities in the Rio Grande Valley and East Texas.
Event details and registration information are available on Eventbrite here. The listing describes the event as an opportunity to “Join U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton at his Come and Take It Tour in San Angelo.” The event is free, but the campaign requests that you obtain a free ticket online to attend.
Paxton’s campaign has framed the tour around the historic Texas Revolution slogan. In a statement announcing the bus tour, the campaign said: “When they come after Texans, Ken Paxton goes after them.” Paxton himself has said, “In Texas, ‘come and take it’ has never been a slogan. It’s a promise.”
The messaging draws on his record as Texas attorney general, including lawsuits against opioid companies, Big Tech, and the Biden administration. He has contrasted himself with Democratic nominee James Talarico, describing the Austin lawmaker as bankrolled by national Democrats and Silicon Valley interests. Public polls have shown a close contest between the two in the race to succeed Sen. John Cornyn, with Democrats seeking their first statewide win in Texas since 1994.
Early voting in Texas is underway and runs through Friday, Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters can find polling locations and check registration status at VoteTexas.gov.
This is the first confirmed date and venue for Paxton’s San Angelo appearance on the tour. San Angelo LIVE! previously reported that the stop was planned as part of the statewide effort but that specific details had not yet been released.
