AUSTIN, TX — Gov. Greg Abbott has reappointed Christoval’s Mike Boyd to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission.
Boyd is a Texas Army National Guard veteran who has over 30 years of service, according to the release from Abbott’s office. Boyd’s new term expires Feb. 1, 2031.
The purpose of the commission is to “preserve, protect, expand, and attract new military missions, assets, and installations” and to encourage “defense-related businesses to expand or relocate in Texas,” the release stated.
Boyd is the former chairman of Housley Communications, Inc., and a 2024-2025 National Defense Alliance Defense Community Champion.
He is a former trustee of the San Angelo Health Foundation and the Shannon Medical Center Board of Trustees, and a former president of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo.
Boyd received a bachelor’s of business administration from Texas A&M University, a master’s in banking from Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, and a military degree from the Command and General Staff College.
Abbott also reappointed Garry Bradford of Corpus Christi and Todd Fox of Belton. All three appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
