WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman August Pfluger (R-TX 11th District) has been appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence (CTI) under the Committee on Homeland Security for the 119th Congress, announced by Rep. Mark Green, Chairman of the Committee.
Pfluger spoke about the challenges facing the U.S., including threats from foreign and domestic terrorist groups, illegal immigration, and the border crisis.
“Our nation faces one of the most dangerous times in its history,” Pfluger said.
He spoke about the impact of the border crisis on Texas and pledged to focus on securing the border, stating, “It is time to bring law and order to the southern border.”
This marks Pfluger’s third term in Congress and his continued leadership in CTI, a role he also held during the 118th Congress. The subcommittee oversees efforts to protect Americans from terrorism and maintain national security, a responsibility Pfluger described as “critical” to the country’s safety.
Pfluger vowed to advance policies aligned with the “America First” agenda and ensure effective counterterrorism strategies.
Background: Pfluger has been a member of the Committee on Homeland Security since his first term and has actively worked on issues related to border security and counterterrorism. The committee was established in 2005 to oversee the Department of Homeland Security.

“From the Chinese Communist Party’s malign influence to homegrown violent extremists motivated by foreign terrorist organizations, our nation faces one of the most dangerous times in its history. Millions of illegal aliens, many of which are known terrorist threats, have poured into our nation, threatening the safety of every single American. My home state of Texas has faced the brunt of President Biden's border crisis, and it is time to fulfill the mandate that the American people gave us on November 5th and bring law and order to the southern border. The Committee on Homeland Security is the most crucial in Congress when it comes to securing our border, and I am honored to serve on it for my third term. I am also proud to continue serving as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, where I will work tirelessly to implement President Trump's America First agenda.”
