San Angelo’s Christopher Baird Reappointed to Texas Rehabilitation Council

 

AUSTIN, TX — Christopher Baird of San Angelo has been reappointed to the Rehabilitation Council of Texas by Governor Greg Abbott, alongside new appointees Shannon Rosson and Erica Kress and returning members Glenda Born and Michele Norris.

Their terms are set to expire on October 29, 2027. The council works with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to support individuals with disabilities in the vocational rehabilitation process.

Baird serves as a vocational rehabilitation supervisor for TWC and previously worked as a counselor for the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services and a community corrections officer in Concho Valley. He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s in rehabilitation counseling from Texas Tech University.

Rosson, of Bedford, is the PACT Project director for Partners Resource Network, with extensive involvement in community coordination and Special Olympics coaching. She earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kress, based in Aubrey, is an advocate for the National Federation of the Blind of Texas and other organizations supporting individuals with disabilities. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from UT Arlington.

Born, a retired rehabilitation teacher from Austin, has a 40-year career focused on assisting individuals with visual impairments. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a licensed professional counselor.

Norris, of La Porte, is a regional blind services specialist for TWC, with a history in rehabilitation counseling. She earned her bachelor’s in political science from Saint Vincent College and a master’s in vocational rehabilitation counseling from Texas Tech University.

The council advocates for improved resources and opportunities for Texans with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support needed for vocational success.
