Trump Appoints Musk and Ramaswamy to Lead New Efficiency Department

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald J. Trump announced today that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a newly created “Department of Government Efficiency” (D.O.G.E.) in his administration.

Musk, CEO of multiple tech companies, and Ramaswamy, a businessman and conservative commentator, are set to drive federal efficiency, reduce regulatory oversight, and overhaul government spending.

Trump described the initiative as a transformative effort to address what he called “wasteful government spending” within the $6.5 trillion federal budget. According to the statement, Musk and Ramaswamy’s joint mission will include dismantling government bureaucracy, cutting expenditures, and streamlining federal agencies. The president likened their assignment to “The Manhattan Project,” aiming to fundamentally restructure federal systems in partnership with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget.

Musk reportedly stated that the effort would “send shockwaves through the system” and target individuals involved in government inefficiency.

The D.O.G.E. project is expected to conclude by July 4, 2026, in time for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
