SAN ANGELO, TX — Nearly 6,000 people had already voted in Tom Green County as of 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the county’s Election Administrator, Vona Hudson.
More than 3,300 residents cast their vote Monday, the first day of early voting.
By comparison, a little over 1,300 people voted on the first day of early voting in 2020, though that year has an asterisk because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m never able to compare one election to another, because there are different issues,” Hudson said. “But this will probably be one of the most popular elections we’ve had for president. …
“I think a lot of counties are going to set a record for the first day.”
Tom Green County’s early numbers don’t include 1,457 absentee ballots that were mailed out.
Hudson wanted to remind voters that no recording devices are allowed within 100 feet of a voting station, and no electioneering (promoting a candidate with a button, hat, etc.) is allowed within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling place.
Curbside voting for residents who have physical health issues is available at all polling sites.
Limited ballots are available only at the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave. These ballots are for Tom Green County residents who didn’t register to vote in this county but are registered in another county. They must verify their address in Tom Green County.
