MILWAUKEE, WI — Former President Donald Trump will take the stage Thursday night at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to accept his party's nomination for the third time.
It will be Trump's first speech since a gunman attempted to assassinate him Saturday, July 13, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
A bullet clipped Trump's ear — while other shots killed a bystander and critically wounded two others — but Trump remarkably escaped otherwise unharmed.
His popularity, meanwhile, has only continued to grow since the incident.
Trump's opponent, President Joe Biden, is currently sidelined with COVID-19 as Democrats scramble to come up with a game plan following Biden's disastrous debate performance that left many concerned about his cognitive decline.
The RNC began Monday and will conclude Thursday night. Festivities are expected to get underway about 5:45 p.m. Trump is scheduled to speak at 9:09 p.m.
C-SPAN has carried uninterrupted coverage all four days, while CBS will have live TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. The RNC will also be livestreamed on numerous platforms, including YouTube and X.
