WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) has called for the resignation of United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
“Kimberly Cheatle must resign as Director of the Secret Service. Every day brings another major revelation in the embarrassing failure to keep President Trump and his supporters secure. A resignation will not excuse her from accountability. We will find out the truth and not rely on Trump-haters to tell us what happened,” Pfluger stated.
The U.S. Secret Service, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is facing scrutiny after a shooting at a rally for Trump in Butler, Pa. The agency is responsible for the protection of the president, vice president, and other top U.S. and foreign dignitaries.
Cheatle, the 27th director of the U.S. Secret Service, was sworn into office on Sept. 17, 2022. She oversees more than 7,800 personnel, including special agents and uniformed officers. With over 25 years of service in various roles within the agency, she is the second woman to serve as director.
The assassination attempt at the rally resulted in the death of a father of two and critically injured two other men, identified as a longtime volunteer firefighter and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, all from the Pittsburgh area. One victim died at the scene, while the other two were transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and are in critical but stable condition.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R) has called for a full investigation into the shooting, indicating that Congress will hear testimony from Cheatle soon.
Cheatle has stated she has no plans to resign despite the revelation that the Secret Service decided not to guard the roof from which the shooter, Thomas Crooks, fired, citing its sloped nature as the reason.

Is Kimberly Cheatle a democrat?

PermalinkShe was a DEI hire so of course she is. Strange thing, protocol used to be 6 foot 3 inches tall(or more) for Secret Service applications. Pretty sure she isn't that tall.
