SAN ANGELO, TX — West Texas politicians reacted quickly to the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Shots began firing out, and Trump appeared to have a bullet graze his ear before Secret Service agents rushed in to protect him.
Trump soon stood up and raised his fist to the crowd with a bloodied ear and blood smeared on the side of his face.
A statement from Trump’s campaign said the former president was “fine.”
The alleged shooter was reported to be killed, along with an attendee. Two other attendees were critically injured.
State Representative Drew Darby from San Angelo posted on X: “Clarisa and I are praying for President Trump and all those impacted by this tragedy. We are tremendously grateful to the brave Secret Service and other law enforcement members for their quick actions and wish him a full recovery.”
U.S. Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) posted twice on X asking people to pray for Trump, then he posted: “This was an attempted assassination of former President Trump and it must be utterly condemned.
I am heartbroken to learn that at least one innocent bystander has been killed.
Please continue to pray for our country.”
Across West Texas, other politicians posted their concerns for Trump on social media as well.
State Representative Brooks Landgraf from Odessa posted on Facebook: “By the grace of God, President Trump is safe after the shooter’s dastardly attempt to take his life. Please pray for America.”
U.S. Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-10) posted on Twitter: “President Trump has suffered unprecedented political persecution, an unrelenting assault on his character and, now, narrowly escaped an attempted assassination.
This man has already sacrificed a great deal to serve our country, and I know that he remains resolute in his commitment to Make America Great Again!
God bless you, President Trump!
Praying for the country."
U.S. Congressman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) simply shared to X the iconic photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist to the crowd after being shot.

Typical Democrat adult tantrum — a reaction produced by the psychology of hard-core Dems against a perceived paternalistic authority. Disappointing, but not surprising.
