SAN ANGELO, Texas – Former San Angelo Police officer and current Chief of Police in Brownwood, Texas, Ed Kading, has endorsed Mike Hernandez for San Angelo Chief of Police in the May 4, 2024 election.
Below is his endorsement letter:
To the Citizens of San Angelo,
3/13/24
Greetings, my name is Ed Kading, and I have been the Chief of Police in Brownwood, Texas since 2019. Prior to that, I spent 26 years at the San Angelo Police Department.
I write this letter to show support for my friend of 30 years, Lt. Mike Hernandez, to be your next Chief of Police. I know the demands of the job, the leadership necessary, the demeanor required, and the respect of officers and community that is vital for success in this position.
I have worked with Mike in several areas of law enforcement, including Narcotics and SWAT. Throughout those years, Mike was consistent, fair, prepared, and always looking for improvement in himself, his subordinates, the department, and his profession. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy; a prestigious, grueling leadership/management program.
I know Mike to be a man of faith, great husband, and father, and possess the discipline of a former Marine. I believe he has the respect of officers within the San Angelo Police Department, and with those that he encounters in daily life.
I'm proud of my friend and I encourage you to vote for Mike Hernandez on May 4 , 2024, for Chief of Police.
Respectfully,
Edward Kading
