SAN ANGELO – Retired Southampton County, VA Sheriff's Office Major Gene Drewery has endorsed Mike Hernandez for San Angelo Police Chief in the May 4, 2024 municipal election.  Drewery and Hernandez attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy together.

Below is Drewery's endorsement letter:

"To the citizens of San Angelo,

Greetings ten years ago I attended the 256th session of the FBI National Academy. I met Mike Hernandez , who was also attending. We became what will be lifelong friends and have the love of Christ, family, our community and law enforcement in common. In 2014, Mike was passionate about being Chief of Police as he is today. He brings years of experience and knowledge to the position if elected. Voters of San Angelo should vote for Mike Hernandez for Chief of Police."
