Below is the letter from John Berg, Retired Police Chief from Sterling Heights, Michigan.
"My name is John Berg. I am a retired Chief of Police from Sterling Heights, Michigan. I have more than 34 years of experience in law enforcement and have had the opportunity to meet law enforcement professionals from around the world. I have never met a person more dedicated to the law enforcement profession or to his agency than Mike Hernandez!
I have Known Mike Hernandez for more than a decade, having met Mike while attending the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. I was immediately impressed with Mike’s dedication to his faith, family, and the San Angelo Police Department.
Mike spoke so highly of the City of San Angelo and the Police Department that my wife Karen and I had to come down to Texas and see it for ourselves. Well, I’m proud to say that we built a home and now live in Texas.
Mike Hernandez has great passion for the community that he was born and raised in. That carries over to his desire to make the San Angelo Police Department the kind of department that other agencies want to emulate.
Mike truly lives by the Mission Statement of the San Angelo Police Department; he is committed to improving the quality of life in the community by policing in a professional and courteous manner. Mike’s extensive experience in law enforcement and his great passion to strive to always be better make him the best choice for the new San Angelo Police Chief, and he has my full endorsement!"
John Berg – Chief of Police (Ret.)
