San Angelo Assistant Chief of Police David Howard is endorsing Hernandez for Chief. His letter is below:
"Dear Citizen,
I am writing this letter to express my wholehearted endorsement and support for Lt. Mike Hernandez in his candidacy for the position of Police Chief. Having had the privilege of working closely with Lt. Hernandez for 30 plus years, I can attest to his exceptional qualifications, unwavering dedication, and leadership skills.
Lt. Hernandez possesses an impressive background in law enforcement, complemented by his extensive executive leadership and management training. He is a former marine, and brings a unique perspective and a strong sense of discipline to his role. Throughout his career, Lt. Hernandez has held various executive leadership positions, including patrol commander, SWAT team leader, criminal investigations commander, commander of community services, critical incident commander, and training commander. These roles have equipped him with valuable experience in handling complex situations throughout the department and making sound, strategic decisions under pressure.
What sets Lt. Hernandez apart from his opponents is the depth and breadth of his experience, as well as his exceptional leadership abilities. Lt. Hernandez's opponents may have their own merits, but it is clear that they do not possess the same level of experience, qualifications, and leadership skills that Lt. Hernandez brings to the table. His proven ability to effectively manage and lead a diverse team, coupled with his commitment to innovation and community-oriented policing, make him the ideal candidate for the position of Police Chief.
I have no doubt that Lt. Mike Hernandez will excel in the role of Police Chief and will continue to serve our community with integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to justice. I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy and urge you to give him your full support.
Thank you for your time and consideration."
Sincerely,
David Howard
Asst. Chief of Police
San Angelo Police Department
