Texas Senate Honors Laura Lewis with Concurrent Resolution

 

AUSTIN, TX — The life of Laura Lewis, district director for the San Angelo office of Texas Senator Charles Perry, was honored on the floor of the Texas Senate on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023. Sen. Perry announced his condolences memorial service information for Lewis on his Facebook page. His announcement and the official proclamation follows.

"It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the unexpected passing of our beloved District Director, Laura Lewis. Laura's dedication to serving the citizens of Senate District 28 was unwavering.

"With a quick mind, professionalism, and sincere engagement, Laura navigated the diverse challenges faced by our district with grace. Her commitment to providing constituent service was marked by a personal investment in every individual seeking assistance. Yet, beyond her professional prowess, it was Laura's profound love for people and life that defined her spirit. We honor and remember a remarkable colleague. May her legacy continue to inspire us, and may she rest in eternal peace.

"Her celebration of life will be on Thursday, December 7th (her birthday) at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in her hometown of San Angelo, Texas. Following the mass, her family will be receiving friends at the Angelo State University LeGrand Center from 11:45-2:00 p.m.," Perry posted.

What follows is the senate resolution honoring Lewis.

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 69
In Memory of Laura Lewis

WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Laura Lewis of San Angelo on November 28, 2023, has brought a profound loss to her family and to her many dear friends and colleagues; and

WHEREAS, A San Angelo native, Laura Lewis graduated from Angelo State University before enjoying a successful 25-year career with Delta Air Lines; she also honed her skills in event management through her work in the Park City, Utah, area; and

WHEREAS, In 2017, Ms. Lewis's success as the membership coordinator for the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce led to her being promoted to vice president of member relations for the organization; she was subsequently hired as the district director for State Senator Charles Perry, and she performed her duties in that role with skill and dedication for nearly six years; and

WHEREAS, Deeply committed to her community, Ms. Lewis served on the advisory council of the San Angelo Clubhouse, an organization devoted to supporting and empowering adults with mental illness; she further distinguished herself through her contributions to the United Way and the San Angelo Pachyderm Club, which she previously led as president; and

WHEREAS, Laura Lewis demonstrated a passion for life and a steadfast commitment to the causes in which she believed, and although she will be greatly missed, her legacy will continue to inspire all those who were privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Laura Lewis and extend heartfelt condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Laura Lewis.
