SAN ANGELO – The lobby and second floor of the Cactus Hotel in downtown San Angelo was standing room only for the two day, 19th West Texas Legislative Summit Soiree.
Note: A soiree is an evening party or gathering, typically in a private house, for conversation or music.
San Angeloans gathered with local and area elected officials for the evening warm up to the Summit at Angelo State University on Tuesday.
In attendance were Texas Land Commissioner Dr. Dawn Buckingham and Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Watch video below from the event:
Also attending Monday night were hosts State Representative Drew Darby, State Senator Charles Perry and U.S. Representative August Pfluger.
The annual Summit Tuesday will include U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas and Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa.
Here's a link to the agenda for the WTLS Tuesday at ASU.
The Soriee included music and a dinner for the guests who spent the evening networking and sharing ideas and news.

I find it amusing that it was found necessary to provide the definition of the word "soiree". All that was missing was its French origin and how to pronounce it (the accent is on the second syllable).

Have you seen our current President attempt speaking? It's no surprise that we have to spell things out anymore.

One good thing about the drastic decline of the American educational system is that all of this France-land talk is going the way of middle English. Phonetically simplified, monosyllabic street-speak full of garbled idiomatic phrases for the win, dawgs.
