WASHINGTON, D.C. – The IRS special agent responsible for blowing the whistle on the Hunter Biden laptop investigation has been identified.
According to multiple reports, on July 19, 2023, IRS supervisor Gary Shapley and IRS special agent Joseph Ziegler appeared in front of the House Oversight Committee to discuss the investigation into political deals made by Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden, and CEFC China Energy executives.
Before today, Ziegler was only known to the public as 'Whistleblower X.' Now, Ziegler is set to testify before the committee regarding the details of the deal. Ziegler has been identified as a gay Democrat man with a husband.
In a pre-written testimony, Ziegler's supervisor Shapley detailed what led to the investigation beginning.
"After an electronic search warrant on Hunter Biden’s Apple iCloud account led us to WhatsApp messages with several CEFC China Energy executives, where he claimed to be sitting and discussing business with his father Joe Biden, we sought permission to follow up on the information in the messages," Shapley is expected to say to the committee. "Prosecutors would not allow it."
Ziegler and Shapley are expected to back up that statement and provide more details to the committee. In a pre-written testimony from Ziegler, he is expected to say that the FBI and IRS interfered in the investigation into Hunter Biden and that decisions in the case seemed to be "influenced by politics."
The hearing is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
