Early Voting for Important May Elections Starts Monday

SAN ANGELO – Early voting for the Saturday, May 6, 2023 non-partisan city, school districts and water district elections runs from Monday, April 24, 2023 to Tuesday, May 2, 2023. 

The Tom Green County Elections Office is administering all elections in the county including the races for San Angelo City Council Single Member District 3, and Trustees for the Grape Creek and Wall School Districts along with Propositions on the San Angelo Police Chief and an election for a Director on the Lipan-Kickapoo Water Conservation District board.

San Angelo voters can cast ballots on three propositions concerning the San Angelo Police Chief.  Here's the ballot language on the propositions: 

Proposition A: Shall Section 61 "Qualifications' of the City Charter be amended to create job qualifications for the Chief of Police, requiring supervisory experience and an educational component?

Proposition B: Shall Section 62 "Term of Office" of the City Charter be amended to align the Chief of Police Terms with the Single Member District 1,3, and 5 terms of office to reduce the number of elections and cost to taxpayers?

Proposition C: Shall Section 64 "Authority" of the City Charter be amended to align the Chief of Police Authority with those powers granted by local, state and federal laws and city policies?

Voters in San Angelo Single Member District 3 will be electing a City Council Representative.  Incumbent City Councilman Harold "Harry" Thomas is challenged by Michael LePak.  

Voters in the Grape Creek ISD will be electing three trustees out of four candidates: Mike Diaz, Kacey Doucet, Scott Stephens, and Jeff Lashley.  

Voters in the Wall ISD will be electing three trustees out of five candidates: Doug Dusek, Kevin Ripple, Cole Mikulik, Heather Braden, and Crystal Braden. 

Voters in the Lipan-Kickapoo Water Conservation District will be electing two directors out of three candidates: Kevin Nieues, Windi Wilde, and Brett Schniers.  

All early voting takes place in the Keyes Building at 113 W. Beauregard in San Angelo from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 24 – 28, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 1,2.  

Election Day is Saturday, May 6, 2023.  Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
