GOP Senator Tim Scott Explores Presidential Bid

CHARLESTON, S.C. – South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott has formed an exploratory committee for a possible run for President in 2024.

If Scott officially enters the race, he will join Nikki Haley, the former governor and former United Nations ambassador. He also joins an increasingly crowded primary field for president: Former President Donald J. Trump, former Gov. Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas and the tech entrepreneur Vivek Rsmaswamy. Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is expected to join the field as well.

The following information is from an email sent to potential supporters Wednesday:

I’ll cut right to the chase: I just launched my Presidential Exploratory Committee.

I believe in securing the border.
I believe in election integrity.
I believe in parental rights.
I believe in supporting our brave law enforcement.
And I believe that with faith and conservative values, this country’s best days are ahead of us.

I was raised in a single-parent household in North Charleston, South Carolina. My mom worked 16-hour days to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. I got my first job, changing oil at a gas station, when I was 13. I understand the value of a dollar.

Here’s the deal, my faith is the central pillar of my life. It’s what guides me through my day. Without God in my life, I would have no purpose and that’s why I need your help to restore faith to our nation’s values.

I can’t stress enough that I can’t do this alone. Polls show Americans are losing faith and if we don’t take action right now, it could be gone forever. But I won’t allow this and I certainly hope you will not either.
