SAN ANGELO – With three very important local runoff races today in the GOP Primary Runoff election in Tom Green County, only about two out of ten registered voters will bother to cast a ballot.
Polls are open in 18 locations around the county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. San Angelo LIVE! will have complete, live-streamed election coverage beginning at 8 p.m. tonight.
The Tuesday Primary Runoff in Tom Green County hasn't had this many contests in a long time but the vast majority of voters will not vote in this election.
The ballot includes the race for the GOP nominee for Tom Green County Judge between Todd Kolls and Lane Carter; Tom Green County Commissioner Pct. 4 between incumbent Commissioner Bill Ford and challenger Shawn Nanny; and Tom Green County Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 between Ron Perry and Stacye Speck.
The statewide GOP ballot includes the runoff for Texas Attorney General between Ken Paxton and George P. Bush; Land Commissioner between Dawn Buckingham and Tim Westley; and Railroad Commissioner between Wayne Christian and Sarah Stogner. San Angelo LIVE! has interviewed each of these candidates except for Paxton who repeatedly declined our invitation.
There is also a Democrat Primary Runoff election for statewide office in Texas. There are no local democrats on the ballot. The contests on the Democrat Primary Runoff election include: Lt. Governor between Mike Collier and Michelle Beckley; Attorney General between Joe Jaworski and Rochelle Mercedes Garza; Comptroller between Janet T. Dudding and Angel Luis Vega; and Land Commissioner between Sandragrace Martinez and Jay Kleberg.
