Andrew Graves Endorsed for Court at Law Judge

SAN ANGELO – San Angelo attorney Andrew Graves is a Republican candidate for Tom Green County Court at Law #2 Judge.  He has been endorsed by Elizabeth Chambers.

Below is Chambers' letter endorsing Graves:

"My friendship with Andrew Graves goes back roughly 30 years. I knew Andrew growing up here in San Angelo before he was an attorney. My mother was a speech language pathologist for SAISD, at the same time, Andrew’s father was the superintendent of SAISD. Andrew comes from a family of educators who have dedicated themselves to this community. After Andrew finished high school here, then college and law school, he had the opportunity to work in other Texas communities. He returned in 2005, having worked in other courtrooms, bringing that knowledge and experience back to Tom Green County.

In this judgeship, Andrew is the perfect candidate for the job due to this experience. He has served not only as a prosecutor, but also as a defense attorney, representing clients across 30 counties in Texas. When I look at the qualifications for a judge who will be hearing a variety of cases, I like the idea of someone who has been on both sides of an argument. Since returning to San Angelo 17 years ago, Andrew has served on the boards of SAPAC, United Way, San Angelo Rotary Club, Downtown San Angelo, Inc, and many others, volunteering his time to better our community. In my opinion, the choice is clear, I am proud to endorse Andrew Graves for Judge, County Court-at-Law 2."

Leland Lacy makes judgements before he has even been presented with evidence. Can anyone explain how that works? Andrew has to be a better candidate. I know that the assistant county attorney gets to use discretion in deciding to pursue cases but after my experience with Leland Lacy, I can't say he is using discretion... what I can say is he decided not to pursue charges that met every legal definition to justify their pursuit and he decided that before his office even received the evidence and report from P.D.. I have the phone call with his secretary recorded... she plainly says that Leland will not pursue the charges, we then asked how that could have been decided because she just told us their office hadn't even received the report with the evidence yet? I give up and move on but I don't want to see people vote for what Leland provided to our community for "justice". Throwing away cases has it's consequences, you may have to deal with someone talking about it.
