Santa Rita Resident Files to Run in Special Election for San Angelo City Council

 

SAN ANGELO – Another San Angelo resident has officially entered the special election for San Angelo City Council Member for Single Member District 5 Monday.  

According to the COSA website, Karen Hesse Smith has filed a completed application for a place on the ballot.  

Smith has an address listed in the Santa Rita neighborhood and lists her occupation as working part-time for the Republican Party of Tom Green County.  

The City Council Special Election will be held January 29, 2022.  The election is necessary to fill the seat vacated by Lane Carter who has announced he is running for Tom Green County Judge.  

The other candidates who have filed to run for SMD5 are John Austin Stokes, Lynette Lucas and Dr. Bryan Angle.  

The last day to file for a spot in the special election is Monday, Dec. 20, 2021.  Early voting runs from Jan. 12 to Jan. 25.  The winner will finish the unexpired term which ends in May 2023.
