SAN ANGELO – The March 2022 Primary election is less than 90 days away and candidates and campaigns are now putting out yard signs, billboards and campaigning door-to-door to earn votes. One of the most traditional methods supporters can use to help the candidate of their choice is to write a letter to the editor.
The 2022 GOP Primary in Tom Green County will allow voters to set the course for several critical local elected offices for years to come and San Angelo LIVE! is accepting letters of support for any and all candidates on the ballot.
With just six days left to file for a place on the primary ballot, there are already four candidates for Tom Green County Judge, five for Precinct 4 County Commissioner, two for County Court at Law # 2 Judge, three for Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 and two for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2.
These elections are critical for Tom Green County. The County Judge and Commissioner's Court set the property tax rate for the county and oversee over 27 departments which provide statutory services including criminal justice, law enforcement, official records, elections, roads, libraries and other duties mandated by the State of Texas.
Current Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd is not seeking re-election, so there will be a new leader in Tom Green County government which means there will be a noticeable difference in the way the Court operates beginning January 2023 when all the newly elected officials will be sworn in.
The same could be said with the other offices as well.
San Angelo LIVE! welcomes letters of support for all candidates.
Letters can be submitted in writing or in person to San Angelo LIVE! at 2001 W. Beauregard, San Angelo TX, 76901 or by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. There are a few guidelines to keep the playing field level. Letters to the editor supporting a candidate must follow the guidelines below to be published:
- The letter must include the author's full name, contact information and a photo.
- The letter must contain the candidate's full name and office sought.
- The letter should list reasons the author supports the candidate.
- Please keep it clean and respectful; candidates are people with families too.
- The letter may include commentary on other candidates running for the same office.
- Each letter should include support for only one candidate.
- Letters will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 at 4 p.m.
