SAN ANGELO – Surrounded by family and supporters, Tom Green County Resident CoCo Simpson Officially kicked off her campaign for County Commission Pct. 4 Wednesday in San Angelo.
Simpson is one of five Republican candidates for County Commissioner representing the southwest quadrant of the county on the five member court. The GOP Primary election will be held March 1, 2022.
County Commissioners serve four year terms in Texas and preside on the administrative court for the county overseeing the county budget which funds the jail, the courts and criminal justice system, elections, vehicle registration, permanent official documents including birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and real estate and vehicle titles. Commissioners also over see the library system and county owned and maintained roads and parks.

The Republican Primary election is March 1, 2022.
Simpson held her official announcement on Dec. 1 which was the first day candidates can put out signs for the election.
There are five Republican candidates for Tom Green County Commissioner in Pct 4 in the March Primary: Simpson, Republican incumbent Commissioner Bill Ford, and challengers Lori Wilson, Dustin Barton and Shawn Nanny.
There are currently no Democratic candidates for Tom Green County Commissioner.
In the event that none of the candidates receives over 50% of the vote in the March Primary, the top two vote recipients will face off in a runoff election May 24, 2022.
The winner of the runoff will be on the November 2022 general election ballot unopposed and will be sworn into office on January 1, 2023.
