SAN ANGELO – During the San Angelo City Council meeting held Thursday, September 9th, community members voiced their support for voting to make San Angelo the 38th Sanctuary City for the Unborn in the state.
Supporters of the issue have asked the city council to vote on the measure that would prohibit any abortion from taking place inside the city limits.
During the meeting, Mayor Brenda Gunter announced that San Angelo will follow the same model officials in Lubbock implemented -- letting residents vote on the measure.
The public comment included statements from Catholic Bishop Michael Sis, Right to Life East Texas Director Mark Dickson, Immanuel Baptist Church Head Pastor Ryan Buck, and several local residents.
