SAN ANGELO, TX –– Over the weekend Angela West, wife of the gubernatorial candidate Allen West, was arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence. After spending hours detained, Mrs. West took to social media to provide her side of the story.
According to West, after picking up her infant grandson and running some errands the duo headed to PF Changs for dinner with friends. For dinner West ordered sea bass, spinach, and lemonade, spending three hours at the restaurant – but never ordering alcohol.
As West drove home she opted for a new route, only to realize she was lost. Minutes later she was pulled over for not signaling as she made a right-hand turn at 9:38 p.m.
During the interaction the police officer asked to see her license and eventually lead to the officer asking West exit the vehicle. The officer then began to ask if she took any prescription drugs and began administering a field sobriety test. As the officer continued the questions, West explained she had suffered an aneurysm and had other health problems and that completing certain aspects of the sobriety test, like standing on one foot, was easier for one leg when compared to the other.
After completing two breathalyzer tests, the officer requested West complete a blood test – which she declined and was then informed she would be transported to jail. At 11:16 p.m. authorities obtained a search warrant to complete the blood test.
“Quite frankly until the 9:38 hour it was especially boring for the reader. So, what happened to trigger the “series of unfortunate events”? The lack of signaling when changing lanes. After which the officer stopped me, I rolled down my window and cheerfully handed her my license. She ran the license and the tags, and I then asked if she would like my insurance and such. She said no and asked what type of work I did…. That I would have a residence in Florida and Texas. I said” financial advisor”, she looked skeptical, then shined the light in the back of the car,” wrote West on her Facebook page, The Republican Coffee Corner with Angela. “I told her that my grandson was in the car seat. She told me to get out of the car, at that point I decided that it would be worthwhile to leave the phone connected to my children since they were on the line and could hear the exchanges.”
West goes on to detail what the officer asked her to do up until the moment she was placed into the squad car – forced to leave her infant grandson behind with other police officers inside her vehicle.
“So, not knowing my rights nor the sequence of events to occur, I went along and at this moment I will avoid the gory details, but I am both injured and getting medical care. Officer Harris with the Dallas Police Department became “Aunt Lydia” for those fans of The Handmaid's Tale. She became my personal tormentor. She “showed me the ropes,” wrote West. “My hands are swollen and bruised as are my shoulders and arms. I have been locked and restrained in the squad car in the sweltering heat …. After which I asked her how could a middle aged grandmother who is not inebriated harm you? She got out of the car, shut the door and leaned her backside against the window. She called another cop to “watch” me while she went to get a warrant to draw blood. He watched me pleading to roll down the window or at least loosen the restraints because my shoulder joints were being stretched to the maximum. He kept eating his popcorn and making faces at me. At some point I was instructed to get out of the car and go into this building. We did a lot of driving. I was asked about my “Covid status” to which I said that my eldest daughter and son in law were ill at home with it. I was instructed to lie about this status unless I wanted her to throw me into a room of really sick people and then I would get it too.”
In the extensive Facebook post West explains her experience inside the jail as she waited for the bloodwork to be completed so she could be released.
But through it all West maintains her innocence.
“And I will tell you that there are only three things that I know: 1. I was not drunk and had not been drinking 2. I have never used street drugs, don't really take any prescription drugs other than what is needed at the time 3. My life and reputation will be forever altered 4. It is possible to get caught up in a series of events from which your life is altered - I am injured both emotionally and physically, the latter of which I will be healed by a physician, God and time.”
“The restraint tore some of the ligaments in my hands and shoulders. And….. I probably will test positive for COVID. My head is hurting very badly,” wrote West.
At the end of the post West writes she is thankful for the experience and acknowledges the tough job law enforcement face every – even after encountering a police officer she described as having “undoubtedly suffered much in her life, to render her devoid of conscience and integrity.”

Pathetic winch thinks she's special because of her blow hard husband who thinks his worthless Lt Colonel title puts him above everybody else along with his color. Old sister just needs to save her pissing and moaning for the Judge when it's time to learn what her sentence is......
