WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Joe Biden held a press conference on Friday giving the people an update on the crisis in Afghanistan.
During his initial speech Biden claimed that the airport in Kabul is now completely operational thanks to the 6,000 U.S. troops who have secured the tarmac. This has led to 13,000 Americans, SIVs, and leaders of the former Afghan government an opportunity to flee the country.
Then the president took questions. The first reporter asked "What is your message to America's partners around the world who criticized not the withdrawal but the conduct of that withdrawal and who question the U.S.'s credibility on the world stage?"
This was his response.
Reports from the UK's the Telegraph shows that the a member of British Parliament call for Joe Biden to be held in contempt on Wednesday over the withdrawal of U.S. troops. Here is the fiery speech.
Many other reporters asked questions. The main point Biden made in all of his answers was that the mission for the U.S. is getting the remainder of Americans and American allies out of Afghanistan.
