County Prosecutor Announces Bid for Judge of County Court at Law 2

SAN ANGELO, TX –– On Thursday afternoon, Assistant County Attorney Leland Lacy announced his run for County Court at Law 2 Judge. The is seat has been held by Judge Penny Roberts since 1995 but will retire after this term.

Standing on the courthouse steps Lacy announced to family and friends that after 14 years of serving the county in the Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit as a prosector he was seeking their support in the upcoming Republican primary this spring.

"What's kept me in this job is that I care about this community and I know every day when I get up and come to work I am making Tom Green County a better place," said Lacy. "I want to continue serving this community, and I want to do it as a judge."

According to Lacy one of his main objectives is to "unclog" the court system that has been substantially backed up as a result of the pandemic.

Born and raised in San Angelo, Lacy attended Central High School before moving to Eldorado High School. Lacy completed his bachelor's degree at Texas A&M University and completed law school at Texas Tech.
