Washington, D.C. — Monday, Congressman Mike Conaway (TX-11) released the following statement after Speaker Pelosi announced a Saturday vote on legislation related to the United States Postal Service (USPS):
“It is the height of hubris for Speaker Pelosi to force Members of the House of Representatives to vote on legislation just days before a pivotal hearing on the very same topic. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee next Monday to discuss the challenges USPS faces, yet Speaker Pelosi won’t allow us the chance to hear from Mr. DeJoy before we have to take this vote.
“This is clearly not a fair process or a genuine effort to hear from USPS about how to protect our mail system and keep it solvent, but rather a political show designed for maximum media impact. I am truly appalled at how my Democrat colleagues are choosing to go about addressing this very real issue.”

It is the height of hubris for CONaway to talk about fairness. Go away already. Just another attempt to hide the truth about this president and postmaster love affair. Meetings at the white house, and then a slow down of service. No coincidence.

PermalinkIf you haven't experienced mail delays yet, consider yourself lucky. Last month, a first class package sent to San Angelo from Dallas took a week. Now we know why.
Postmaster Generals are historically non-partisan. Enter Louis DeJoy. Not only has DeJoy contributed more than $440,000 to the GOP this year, he holds multiple investments in the USPS competitors. Politifact has an informative article on this. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/aug/18/really-american/ad-watch-postmaster-general-republican-donor-inves/
From Texan Carolyn Lewis, a George W. Bush-era presidential appointee and 2009 chair of the USPS board of governors: "Mr. DeJoy is failing to fulfill the mission of the USPS to provide prompt and reliable mail delivery at a time when that mission is as important as it has ever been. He is also destroying confidence in the organization that will only make its long-term viability even harder to achieve."

PermalinkWhat Mike 'The Con Man' Conway is really upset about, is that he didn't think of this ploy first. Politicians are only in the game to enhance their own bank accounts or their buddies. Look at Trumpy Bear, screwing the nation over at every turn. Make America Great Again is what the next administration after trump's will have to do, rebuild America from the train wreck trump has turned it into.

PermalinkI need to get into politics, man. Not to be a public official. Pfff. No way. But I want to do the Bernie con. I'll take a slightly radical position, raise a bunch of money, plan to lose, and then endorse the mainstream candidate as the next best thing. Rinse and repeat.
Cha-ching! $$$$$$$$
