Sign Wording Causes Confusion in City Council Race

ABILENE, TX — The unusual wording on a campaign sign is generating attention for a city council candidate.

According to KTXS, Sheria Davis is running for the Abilene City Council Place 3 seat.

The signs for Davis’ campaign read: “Sheria Davis for 3rd Place City Council,” instead of Place 3.

Davis clarified that the “3rd Place” working refers to her spot on the ballot. Davis is listed third after Councilwoman Donna Albus and Anthony Jojola.

Davis stated she will order new signs ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

"I'm gonna go back to my printing company and just have them reverse the words," said Davis. "But I guess this stirs up enough controversy to get me some attention.”
