Voters Line Up on Last Day of Early Voting

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Dozens of voters stood in line Friday morning to cast ballots in the primary elections at the Keyes building in downtown San Angelo. 

As of 9:30 a.m. 5,424 voters had cast ballots in early voting in the Democratic and Republican party primaries in Tom Green County. 

The elections office is open for early voting until 7 p.m. Friday.

There are no contested local races in the Democratic primary. 

In the Republican primary, the contested races include Tom Green County Sheriff where Keith Muncey and Nick Hanna are vying to replace Sheriff David Jones who is not seeking reelection; incumbent Pct. 1 Tom Green County Commissioner Ralph Hoelscher is challenged by Cary Houston; and there are ten candidates running for CD-11 congressman including San Angeloan August Pfluger who had a supporter standing in the Keyes building.  The other candidates for congress are: J.D. Faircloth, Casey Gray, J. Ross Lacy, Robert Tucker, Wesley Virdell, Gene Barber, Jamie Berryhill, Brandon Batch and Ned Luscombe.  Current Cd-11 Congressman Mike Conaway is not seeking reelection. 

Also on the GOP ballot in Tom Green County, incumbent State Representative Drew Darby is challenged by Lynette Lucas. 

Election day is Tuesday, March 3, 2020 and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
