SAN ANGELO, TX -- Five of the six incumbent judges on Texas Third Court of Appeals in Austin campaigned in San Angelo Thursday.  They joined Tom Green County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Susan Werner at the Ft. Concho Commissary for the Tom Green County Republican Party’s annual Republican Round-Up.

Melissa Goodwin, David Puryear, Cindy Bourland, Scott Field and Mike Toth joined about a hundred Republican supporters for a campaign rally at Ft. Concho Thursday evening.  Four of the justices are on the ballot in November.  Goodwin is not up for election but joined the other justices for the event.  Mike Toth won a runoff election to replace Bob Pemberton who retired from the bench earlier this year. Governor Abbott appointed Toth the the bench after the runoff election.

The 3rd Court of Appeals hears cases appealed from 24 Texas counties including Travis and Tom Green which means it is the court of appeals for the Texas Legislature.  There are five justices and a chief justice on the court. The justices are elected to four year terms.

State Representative Drew Darby and his wife Clarisa were special guests at the Republican Round-Up.  The annual event was a fundraiser in support of Tom Green County Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Susan Werner who has a Democrat opponent in the Nov. 6 general election.
