John Best, First Assistant for the 51st District Attorney’s office, submitted documents today to the Republican Party of Texas to seek the nomination for 119th District Attorney in the March 1 primary.
Current 119th District Attorney George McCrea announced in September that he would not seek reelection and that he would be supporting Best to succeed him. “John is an experienced and dedicated prosecutor, and I want the voters to know that I support him.” McCrea stated.
Best has served as a felony prosecutor in the Tom Green County District Attorney’s Office for 14 years. Best’s campaign will focus on his lengthy experience prosecuting felonies in the
D.A.’s office, his commitment to communication with law enforcement and the public, and his effec-tiveness as a prosecutor.
Best is married with two sons. He serves with the: Children’s Advocacy Center, Concho Valley Law Enforcement Lions Club, Pachyderm Club, Promises for Families, Texas District and County Attorney’s Association. Best also serves as President of the Tom Green County Bar Association.
