84% of LIVE! Readers Uncomfortable with City's Direction on Trash RFP

San Angelo LIVE! readers, by a wide margin, are not comfortable with the way the City of San Angelo has handled the trash request for proposals (RFP) process.

The poll was opened Friday evening and closed this morning just after 8 a.m. We posted a link to the poll on San Angelo LIVE! and San Angelo Connection Facebook walls as well as notified our email subscribers Saturday morning.

The poll contained one question:

“Are you comfortable with the Request for Proposal process for the trash collection contract and landfill management as executed by the City of San Angelo?”

The answers were “Yes” or “No.”

Of the 360 responses, 303, or 84% answered “No.” There were only 57 responses, or 16%, that answered “Yes.”

The survey was conducted through SurveyMonkey, an independent surveying platform. You can download a *pdf of the survey results here.

What happened to the "Undecided/Don't Know" column? I suspect the numbers would be a little bit different.
One who is undecided or doesn't know can still take a position - gut or otherwise. It's a survey...
Of course YOUR poll would produce the results YOU want. Every bit of coverage from this so called news outlet has been extremely biased and one sided. Also, the amount of people that voted in this poll represents such a small sample size of the number of people in the city that it is statistically useless. The question I have for Mr. Hyde and the few(and I mean very few) that have commented on the trash contract is what motivation/reason would so many city officials have for favoring one trash company over another? The conspiracy being laid out would call for all of the council(6-0 vote), the city manager, staff, city attorney, Mayor, and others to all be in on conspiring to get Republic Services the contract. That makes no sense. People who buy that are the same people who believe we never landed on the moon, 911 was planned by our own government, and that Elvis is still alive. Crazy!!!
