Governor Perry was in San Angelo early this afternoon advocating a ballot initiative to allow the State of Texas to spend $2 billion out of the state’s rainy day fund to finance water infrastructure projects. We’ll have more on that, including an exclusive interview with Texas Senator Bobby Duncan on state water policy, school finance, and more.
There was a more light-hearted part of the Governor’s visit when we asked Perry, who is a graduate of Texas A&M, what he thought about Johnny Manziel, the Heisman quarterback for the Aggies.
“I think he’s a very exciting young man to watch play football, and I wish he could have gotten one more touchdown when we [Texas A&M] played Alabama,” Perry said
The Texas A&M vs. LSU football game is upcoming on Nov. 23. Lousiana Bobby Jindal, of course, is an LSU fan. We asked Perry if he and Jindal had a bet on the game.
Perry said, “Not yet, but I suspect that we probably will. November 23rd is a circled date on my schedule and I hope Governor Jindal and I can have something that is fun. And I hope something that Bobby can afford.”
