Curb Check: Downtown San Angelo is Sprucing up the Streets

In light of the recent, infamous oversight from City Council, it is refreshing to hear that another organization in the city is experiencing overages.

The Downtown Pedestrian Improvement Project revealed in a meeting Wednesday that they are roughly $68,000 in the black, even though the street curbs need a little more love.

“If you redo the inside and don’t paint the outside, it doesn’t look like you did anything,” said Lee Pfluger of the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board (TIRZ).

In regards to what the board should do about the curbs and extra funds, Craig Kinney (TIRZ) said that they should “identify distinct areas to give attention to.”

 “We are trying to save money any way we can and get the most value for it,” explained Bob Schneeman, Interim Director of Economic Development and board liason.

The Board voted to set a cap of $50,000 dollars for the repaving of curbs to make Downtown more aesthetically pleasing.
