Best Way to See the Super Blue Moon in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX – There will be an extremely rare super blue moon on Wednesday night and the San Angelo State Park will be hosting a viewing.

In the video above, Tara Fattouh, the Park Interpreter at the San Angelo State Park, sits down with San Angelo LIVE!'s Editor Yantis Green to talk about the viewing.

The event will begin at 8:15 p.m. with a small hike to an optimum location where viewers can witness the full moon. In the month of August there has already been one full moon. This makes the one on Wednesday a blue moon.

As for the 'super' in super blue moon, it means that the moon will be closer to the earth than normally. This will make it appear nearly 15% larger and brighter.

Registration for the event is recommended. Park goers are asked to meet at the Chaparral Pavilion. The sun is expected to set at 8:08 p.m.
