Drowning Victim Recovered at Lake Brownwood

 

LAKE BROWNWOOD, TX — A drowning victim was recovered from Lake Brownwood over the weekend.

Lake Brownwood Lake Patrol released the following information:

"A tragic drowning incident occurred at Goat Island on Lake Brownwood. Search efforts were conducted on Saturday, June 27, 2026, well into the evening hours and then resumed early Sunday, June 28, 2026. The victim was recovered at approximately 12:13 p.m.

"Out of respect for the family, the identification of the victim will not be released by Lake Patrol.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss.

"We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all agencies that assisted with the response and recovery efforts. Their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication were invaluable during this difficult incident.

"We especially thank:

  • Life Guard EMS
  • State Park Police
  • Brown County Sheriff’s Office

"Their commitment to serving our community and working together exemplifies the highest standards of public safety.

"As a reminder, everyone visiting area lakes is encouraged to wear a properly fitted life jacket, remain aware of changing water conditions, and always practice water safety.

"Additional information will be released as appropriate and in accordance with the ongoing investigation."

The drowning incident at Lake Brownwood was one of six water-related fatalities last weekend across the state reported by Texas Game Wardens.
