SAN ANGELO, TX — A brief warming trend will continue through Friday across West Texas before another cold front ushers in cooler conditions Saturday, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.
Wednesday’s afternoon highs will reach the mid-40s in areas where ice and snow remain on the ground and the 50s where most has melted. San Angelo is forecast for 51 degrees, Abilene 47, Eldorado 52, and Sonora 53. Light winds are expected.
Highs will climb into the low to mid-50s Thursday and Friday. Saturday, behind the cold front, highs will drop to the upper 30s to low 40s in many locations. Overnight lows will stay at or below freezing each night through the weekend, with lows generally in the teens and 20s.
Dry conditions will persist through the weekend, with the next chance of precipitation not arriving until the middle of next week. Normal late-January highs are 60 in Abilene and 62 in San Angelo.
