SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for most of West Central Texas, including San Angelo, due to critical fire weather conditions expected Friday.
Low humidity levels between 10% and 20%, along with southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, gusting up to 40 mph, will create an increased risk for wildfire spread from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dry conditions will intensify in the afternoon, with fuels expected to be critically to extremely dry, according to forecasters.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including:
- Ensuring chains are not dragging from vehicles
- Avoiding driving on dry grass
- Refraining from outdoor burning
- Disposing of cigarette butts properly

Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid-to-upper 80s over the weekend following a brief cooling trend on Thursday. The National Weather Service advises that warm, dry, and breezy conditions will persist into next week, potentially extending the fire threat.
