Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory Issued for West Central Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory for parts of West Central Texas, including San Angelo, as critical fire weather conditions and strong winds are expected throughout the day.

The Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday across the region. South to southwest winds of 20-30 mph with gusts over 45 mph and humidity levels as low as 8% will create conditions favorable for rapid fire spread. Officials discourage outdoor burning and warn residents to avoid activities that could ignite fires.

A Wind Advisory is also in place for the Big Country from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with west to northwest winds of 20-35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. The National Weather Service urges residents to secure loose objects and exercise caution when driving high-profile vehicles due to the potential for strong wind gusts.

A cold front midweek is expected to bring a brief cooldown, with highs dropping to the 60s and 70s on Wednesday and Thursday before rebounding into the 80s by the weekend.
