Red Flag Warning Issued, Temperature Swings This Week

SAN ANGELO, TX – A Red Flag Warning will be in effect across West Central Texas from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday due to critical fire weather conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong south-to-southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, combined with humidity levels as low as 10%, will create dangerous fire conditions. Officials warn that any fires that ignite could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Avoid activities that could spark fires, including driving on dry grass and dragging chains from vehicles.

Temperatures will fluctuate throughout the week, reaching the upper 80s to near 90 degrees Monday and Tuesday before a midweek cold front drops highs into the 60s and 70s on Wednesday and Thursday. Warmer temperatures are expected to return by the weekend.
