SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning for parts of West Central Texas today, citing strong winds and heightened fire danger.
The Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for areas south of a San Angelo-to-San Saba line. Winds from the west to northwest are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. Officials advise securing outdoor objects and driving with caution, particularly for those operating high-profile vehicles.

The Red Flag Warning, in place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., applies to areas south of Interstate 20, including San Angelo. The combination of gusty winds up to 45 mph and low relative humidity between 10 to 20% has created critical fire weather conditions, meaning fires can start and spread rapidly. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, refrain from driving on dry grass, and ensure that chains are not dragging from vehicles.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s and 70s through the weekend, rising into the 80s on Monday and Tuesday before cooling slightly by midweek.
