Dust Storm Warning Issued for San Angelo and Surrounding Areas

SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a Dust Storm Warning for San Angelo and several surrounding counties, including Irion, Tom Green, Coke, Runnels, and Sterling. The warning remains in effect until 2:15 p.m. CST Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

Wind gusts of up to 63 mph have been reported at the San Angelo airport, with forecasters warning of near-zero visibility due to blowing dust. Officials advise that the hazardous conditions could persist for another three to four hours before significant relief is expected.

Drivers are urged to pull aside and stay alive if visibility drops, according to emergency alerts. The NWS advises motorists to pull off the road, put vehicles in park, turn off headlights, and keep their foot off the brake to avoid rear-end collisions. Individuals with respiratory conditions, infants, and the elderly are advised to take extra precautions.

Major highways affected include US-277, US-67, and US-87, impacting more than 121,000 residents in the affected counties.
