SAN ANGELO, TX – An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for all of West Central Texas through noon Thursday, with temperatures dropping into the single digits and teens and wind chills as low as -10 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in San Angelo.
Take precautions as the arctic air mass will bring multiple days of subfreezing temperatures, with the Big Country facing up to 72 consecutive hours below freezing.

Wind chills will be especially dangerous in the mornings. Forecasts indicate wind chill values from 0 to 16 degrees through Thursday morning, before improving slightly Friday. North winds of 5 to 10 mph will exacerbate the cold.

Children at bus stops on Wednesday and Thursday mornings should dress in multiple layers, as wind chills in San Angelo are forecasted to hit zero degrees.

Officials advise limiting time outdoors, covering exposed skin, and protecting outdoor pipes to prevent frostbite or hypothermia.
