Angler Catches Record-Breaking Blue Catfish at Twin Buttes

SAN ANGELO, TX — A local angler has tentatively set a new record at Twin Buttes Reservoir after catching a massive blue catfish.

On Friday, Jason Burns reeled in a blue catfish weighing 53.65 pounds and measuring 44 inches long, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Inland Fisheries San Angelo District.

If confirmed, the catch would surpass the current record of 52.5 pounds set by John De La Cerda in 2002.

After being officially documented, the fish was successfully released back into Twin Buttes Reservoir, "to be caught again another day."
