Cold Front to Bring Bitter Temperatures to the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX — A warming trend today is expected to be brief, as the National Weather Service in San Angelo forecasts an Arctic cold front moving through late Friday into Saturday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures for the weekend and early next week.

Today, highs will reach the mid-to-upper 50s across the Concho Valley under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, with light east to southeast winds at 5 to 10 mph. The slightly warmer weather is expected to last through midweek, with highs near 70 degrees anticipated by Friday.

The Arctic front will push through the region late Friday, ushering in a bitterly cold air mass. High temperatures on Sunday and Monday are forecasted to plummet to the 30s and 40s, with overnight lows dropping into the 20s and teens. The NWS warns temperatures could fall even further than currently expected.

While no precipitation is anticipated, the NWS advises monitoring the forecast due to uncertainty. Below-normal temperatures are expected through Wednesday, followed by warmer conditions before the cold front’s arrival. Highs on Saturday will dip significantly after Friday’s near 70-degree temperatures.
