San Angelo State Park Rings in New Year with 'First Day Hikes' Events

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo State Park welcomed the new year with its annual “First Day Hikes” series, offering a variety of outdoor activities for all ages.

January 1 Events:

  • Midnight Madness Hike: Outdoor enthusiasts started 2025 with a 12 a.m. hike along Talley Valley Trail, meeting at the Playground Parking Lot.
  • First Trail Ride (Horse): From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., horseback riders explored the trail from Burkett Trailhead to Five Points.
  • First Bike Ride: Cyclists will gather at noon to ride through the Isabel Harte Multi-Use Area, including the Winding Snake Trail.
  • Tracks to the Past Hike: From 2-4:30 p.m., hikers will embark on a journey through the Dinosaur Trail/Loop, meeting at the North Concho Parking Lot.

Park-goers were advised to dress appropriately for the weather and bring water and snacks to enjoy the outdoor activities.
