SAN ANGELO, TX - San Angelo State Park is closing out December with engaging activities for all ages, leading into its annual “First Day Hikes” on New Year’s Day.
December’s final event is the Women’s Hike on Sunday, Dec. 29, from 2-4 p.m., meeting at the Playground Parking Lot and exploring the Tasajillo Flats Trail.
On Jan. 1, the park’s “First Day Hikes” series kicks off with:
- Midnight Madness Hike: Begin the year with a 12 a.m. hike along Talley Valley Trail, starting at the Playground Parking Lot.
- First Trail Ride (Horse): From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., horseback riders will explore the trail from Burkett Trailhead to Five Points.
- First Bike Ride: Starting at 12 p.m., cyclists will ride through Isabel Harte Multi-Use Area, including the Winding Snake Trail.
- Tracks to the Past Hike: From 2-4:30 p.m., hikers can journey through the Dinosaur Trail/Loop, meeting at North Concho Parking Lot.
Park-goers are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring water and snacks.
