Winter Solstice Brings Mild and Sunny Weather to West Texas

SAN ANGELO, TX – On December 21, the winter solstice officially marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, signaling the start of astronomical winter.

Despite the seasonal transition, West Texas is experiencing sunny skies and mild temperatures, with highs reaching the 60s and light southern winds between 5 to 15 mph. According to the National Weather Service, San Angelo will see a high of 68.

The pleasant weather continues into the holiday week, with above-normal temperatures expected across the region. Sunday and Monday are forecast to have highs ranging from the mid-60s to the mid-70s, while Tuesday and Wednesday may see slightly warmer conditions, with highs in the low 70s in some areas.

A slight chance of rain is forecast for Tuesday, particularly in the eastern parts of the region, and Thursday may also bring a 20% chance of showers.
