SAN ANGELO, TX – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has begun stocking rainbow trout in the Concho River downtown, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
The initiative is part of TPWD’s 2024-2025 winter trout stocking schedule, which will see over 25,000 rainbow trout released across West Texas.
The Oakes Street location in San Angelo received its first batch of 664 trout on November 27, with additional stockings planned for December 27, January 24, and February 21. Foster Park will receive 1,600 trout across two dates, December 10 and January 15. San Angelo State Park’s Javalina Draw will also be stocked, starting December 19.
The trout stockings are aimed at creating more fishing opportunities for residents and visitors. TPWD emphasizes that all stocking events are contingent upon maintaining adequate water quality and quantity.
In total, 14 locations across West Texas are scheduled for stocking this season, including sites in Midland, El Paso, and Big Spring. The stocking schedule spans from December to February, with some sites receiving thousands of fish across multiple events.
For a complete stocking schedule and updates, anglers are encouraged to visit the TPWD website or follow Inland Fisheries San Angelo District on social media.
